Height you can feel, but nobody can see. The Berlin hides a 1.4 inch wedge inside the sole, so you get the lift of a heel with the footprint of a flat, plus a faux fur cuff at the collar that makes the whole thing look deliberate rather than practical.
The upper is a velvety faux suede, warm-lined through the shaft, finished with a gold flower ornament at the cuff. The wedge is built into a lightweight gum-tone sole with a deep tread, which is what keeps it steady on a cold sidewalk.
